Deakin Linux

Changing the world, one box at a time

Welcome to the homepage of Deakin Linux. Deakin Linux is an up-and-coming distribution that is about to take the world by storm. Using an easy-to-learn system for package storage, it does away with the need for such packaging formats like .rpm or .deb. Using the linux-standard tool of symlink and the often-underappreciated area of /opt/local, finding out what package owns a file or what version of a package we are currently using becomes a simple task.

News

07-06-05: All personal data on any deakinlinux.com subdomain must be deleted. deakinlinux.com recently realised that the Internet is available to the whole world, and that anyone can access the data the subdomain owners post. Apparently you don't even need something called a "webpage", you can "link" directly to the "file". This raises concerns, as we don't understand it and are therefore scared of it. As we speak, the deakinlinux.com is actively working on a Internet that allows only the people they want to see it. This amazing innovation will predict who you do and don't want to see the site and will automatically block the bad people. Stay tuned. Until that, please remove all files from your subdomain. We will soon be renaming your fileserving directory ("public_html") to something more appropriate ("private_html"). If you wish to put something on your subdomain, please contact the site admins.

07-06-05: The DLCE Test can now be taken and submitted. On (successful) completion you'll be presented with a certificate. Thanks to the various (unnamed) people who submitted questions/ideas.

Note: This distro is named after Alfred Deakin, the second prime minister of Australia. It has no relationship to Deakin University, Deakin Estate (Winery), or Deakin Equipment.
